“Build Green,” we told the architects. “Build Green,” we told the construction company. They heard us. A vacant lot at 550 Dudley Street became the field in which Project Hope was planted and where she grew, perfectly formed, to be four stories high.
We are proud to be earth friendly and energy efficient. Inside this attractive structure staff and clients alike enjoy the pure air, filtered water, sunlit spaces; and where we contribute to responsible operations by recycling and reusing material resources. We received “Silver” status for showing Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design.
Energy conservation features include:
• Using sunlight to brighten 90% of our interior spaces;
• Reducing the amount of air conditioning needed by having a special roof that reduces heat retention and an overhang that reduces heat buildup;
• Saving water by having restroom faucets that are motion controlled and by having dual flush toilets;
• Using kitchen appliances with Energy Star ratings.
Green Housekeeping Practices include:
• Using cleaning products that are non-chemical; products that are packaged in containers made from recycled materials;
• Using paper products that are chlorine free;
• A locked bike storage and a shower encourage biking and jogging to work;
• Separating waste materials for pickup by recycling firms.
This is a building that teaches us how to live when we go home, so that generations to come will also be able to enjoy a healthy and fruitful planet Earth.
