45mag

Project Hope was founded at 45 Magnolia Street when the Little Sisters of the Assumption opened its doors to its first homeless family in 1981, using the acronym House Open People Enter, Project Hope. Until 2006 all of Project Hope's programs were under this one roof along with the 8 families who called 45 Magnolia their home.

In 2006, Project Hope's education, workforce development, housing services, and administrative offices moved into the new Community Building on Dudley Street.

In November 2006, 45 Magnolia Street was selected for the WCVB/Channel 5 Extreme Home Makeover. The over 500 volunteers who helped in this 2-week makeover turned offices into bedrooms and completed renovated the inside of the Shelter.

The following year, in April 2007, Rebuilding Together Boston completed an Exterior Makeover at 45 Magnolia for their National Rebuilding Day. Volunteers painted the exterior of the house and garage, built a patio, and landscaped the yards.

Today 45 Magnolia Street is home to 11 families and is the site for Project Hope's Children's Center.
