Volunteer Information

Community Resource Room Volunteers

We are in need of volunteers to help staff the Community Resource Room. The resource room is open from 8:30 a.m.–4:30 p.m. Monday-Friday. Volunteers should be able to commit 1-2 hours per visit. These are on-going opportunities to get involved in the community. We prefer to have regular volunteers who are interested in spending at least a few months with us, but we also encourage anyone with time and energy to commit to whatever they can.

Volunteers are needed to:

  • Assist community members with writing resumes & cover letters and internet navigation.
  • Assist community members with filling out housing applications.
  • Teach basic computer literacy skills in a classroom or one-on-one setting.

For more information, please contact Jai Melenciano at 617-442-1880 x224 or email jmelenciano@prohope.org.

Tutor an Adult Learner

Develop a lasting relationship with an adult where both tutor and student learn and grow from one another.  Tutors work one-on-one with students to provide instruction based on a plan to meet learner’s goals and educational needs.  We ask that tutors have an openness to learning from and working with adults from a variety of cultural and educational backgrounds.  Reliability, consistency and commitment to learner-centered tutoring are required for a successful student-tutor relationship.

For more information, please contact Kristin Shapiro at 617-442-1880 x252 or email kshapiro@prohope.org.

Mentor a One Family Scholar

Mentors and scholars often develop a relationship that provides mutual support and sustenance that goes way beyond scholarship.  Mentors meet regularly with Scholars, helping them to fine-tune academic plans and their career goals, using their life's experience to provide counsel and advice.  The single most important qualification to be a successful mentor is the willingness and enthusiasm to give of your time and talent in order to help another woman achieve what you already have: economic and personal stability in their lives.

For more information on mentoring a One Family Scholar, please contact Valerie Paric at 617-423-0504 x203 or vparic@onefamilyinc.org.

Playspace Activity Leader (PAL)
